The short version: Uprise does not collect, store, or sell the personal content you create in the app. Your journal, streak, and check-in data lives on your device and in your private iCloud account. Optional anonymous analytics and the Android email waitlist are described below.
What data Uprise collects
Uprise stores all data — your streak, journal entries, check-ins, trigger logs, and settings — locally on your device using iOS UserDefaults and iCloud CloudKit. This data is:
- Stored on your device
- Synced privately through your personal iCloud account (if iCloud is enabled)
- Never transmitted to our servers
- Never visible to us
No account, email address, or personal identifier is required to use the app.
Optional anonymous analytics
During onboarding, you can choose to share anonymous usage data to help improve the app. This is strictly opt-in — the app works identically whether you opt in or not.
If you opt in, the following events are sent to our analytics service (Supabase):
- App opened
- Streak started — including how long you've been struggling and your motivation reasons (from the predefined list only — no free text you write)
- Which tab you navigate to
- Phase advanced
- Milestone reached
- Check-in submitted (urge level only — no journal content)
- Relapse logged (selected categories only — no personal notes)
- Grace period used
- SOS tool opened
- Badge earned
Each event is tagged with a randomly generated anonymous ID — a UUID created on your device and not linked to your name, Apple ID, email, or free-text entries. These events can include recovery-related usage information, such as urge level or a selected relapse category, but are not designed to directly identify you.
You can withdraw consent at any time in Settings → Privacy.
iCloud sync
If you have iCloud enabled on your device, Uprise uses Apple's CloudKit framework to sync your data across your devices. This sync occurs entirely within your personal iCloud account — Uprise has no access to it. Apple's privacy policy governs this data: apple.com/legal/privacy.
Third-party services
Supabase — used for opt-in analytics. Events may contain the recovery-related usage information listed above, but do not include direct identifiers or free-text journal content. Supabase Privacy Policy.
MailerLite — used to collect email addresses voluntarily submitted through the Android waitlist on this website. MailerLite stores the address so we can send the Android launch update. It is not connected to your in-app data. MailerLite Privacy Policy.
Data retention
Your in-app data (streak, journal, check-ins) is retained until you delete it via Settings → Reset All Data. Uninstalling Uprise removes the local copy but may leave synced records in your private iCloud account; use the in-app reset or your iCloud storage settings to remove those records. Opt-in analytics events are retained for product improvement and contain no direct identifiers or free-text entries.
Android waitlist email addresses are retained until the Android launch notification has been sent, unless you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your address sooner.
Children's privacy
Uprise is not directed at children under 17. We do not knowingly collect any information from users under 17. If you believe a minor has submitted their data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, we will update the date above and note what changed. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
